"We brought our 2 year old son in a few weeks ago because he was having trouble breathing. Turns out he had croup. The E.D. staff, Dr. Ray, and Mike from RT on night shift were wonderful. They answered all of our questions and made us feel like we had done the right thing by bringing him in, even though we felt a little silly when we found out a steamy bathroom would have done the trick! I am an employee and it makes me so proud to have co-workers that are so amazing! Thanks to all!"

"For a number of years I've had lower back problems and even had surgery on one portion. Starting shortly after Christmas of 2007 I started having pain again and it got progressively worse until I was almost bedbound 24/7. In June of 2008 I visited Dr. Gettlefinger at the Advanced pain clinic, where the nurses, especially Tom, were quite helpful and friendly even though I wasn't in the best of humor. I then started physical therapy at Rebound East with Matt and all of the Aqua staff. They all were super! I would highly recommend any of these services and of course the staff's. Thanks so much."

I would like to sincerely thank the Bloomington Hospital nursing staff which, without exception, was kind, caring and very comforting. What a great staff!!!"

"I wanted to write and tell you that this new shuttle system was a blessing. Taking my mother in today for x-ray's, and wondering how I was going to get her up the stairs to begin with, definitely had me worried. When I finished parking, was about to leave my mother in the car, and go get a wheel chair, then this shuttle bus pulled up, I just couldn't thank the young women enough. Once in the hospital, everyone was so helpful with everything. My mother said that the x-ray tech's were so kind and gentle with her,and commented to me that she was worried over nothing. It took me almost 6 months to even get her to get these x-rays that her doctor ordered. Every moment was just perfect, especially having this shuttle bus at the door when we were leaving. It's very difficult for my mother to get in and out of any car. This shuttle bus with it's motorized lowering seat, worked out just great. Thank you for this newest program, shuttle bus, it was a definite blessing."

"Thank you Bloomington Hospital Rebound Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine--Mitchell. Living with chronic pain associated with CP, exercise plays an important role in my daily life. The Mitchell Rebound staff were so caring, compassionate, and professional. Since the Mitchell clinic is smaller, I felt more comfortable and "at home." Recently, I transitioned to a HEP with Donna and Jan's encouragement and suggestions. Without a doubt, I will need PT again in the future and I will not hesitate to return to Rebound Mitchell. Thank you Donna, Jan, and Patty!"

"I have been recieving care at the VIM clinic for a few months now. It has been such a positive experience. Sung Park, Barbra Walker, and all of the nurses and front desk staff have been so kind. I am so very thankful and grateful for this service...it has likely saved my life...I had a staph infection that I would not have known about, found out I have high blood pressure, and that I am pre-diabetic. I attended the diabetes education class and learned how to change my lifestyle and monitor my blood sugar. Thank you-thank you-thank you"

"I have had five children born at Bloomington Hospital and to this day my fourth child, born 12/10/04, is the most memorable due to Lori, my nurse for the delivery. Lori showed such care and compassion. Checked on me and my family members constantly, conversed with us, listened to my needs. She was able to get me to cooperate even when I didn't want to lay on my side because of the way she spoke with me, explaining why I needed to and then getting me off my side as soon as possible. After Adrianne's delivery I had to wait some time for a room. Lori pushed me to my room, hugged me several times. It wasn't until later I found out she had any other patients that day besides me. She is the best nurse I have ever had! (She even brought my husband gummy bears when he couldn't leave the room.)"

"My new doctor, Dr Lori Thompson, is so patient. She's not at all like my former doctor where I felt I was being run through one of those places where you take a number and wait for your turn then you get about 2 minutes to explain any problems you might be having. After going to my former doctor for about 20 years it certainly is a pleasant switch to find such a caring and concerned doctor."

Dr. Wood from Aegis was the doctor who worked with me but I don't remember the names of the nurses and other staff who were there (sorry ladies!) But, I just wanted to thank everyone in that ward that day for staying on top of things so well and saving my daughters life. I refer people to Bloomington every time they tell me they are expecting. "I have an aunt in Critical Care. The nurses that I have been around have been so friendly and compassionate. I've heard other family members talk about how our loved one is being cared for. They are so gentle and caring and we really appreciate that. The workers know this is your loved one and that we want them treated and cared for as we would if we could. Thank you so much for all you do. Also in 1994 I had surgery in Bloomington Hospital and I had the best care that I could ever ask for. To work in a place like this has to be stressful but you have to be a special person to do this job and be patient and understanding. Thank you so much Bloomington Hospital and staff. You are doing a great job."
"Thank you to the doctors, nurses, and the staff of the Advanced Pain Center. The Advanced Pain Center treats the patient as a whole person & considered all aspects of my life when considering a treatment plan, not just the illness. The doctors & nurses take the time to listen to my concerns & took my concerns seriously. They uplift and encourage their patients. They have never made me feel like less of a person because I have chronic pain. The doctors take the time to discuss all treatment options. They present options in an honest & forthright manner. And, they helped me develop my own pain management plan. The doctors, nurses, and staff are some of the nicest people I have ever met. Living with pain every day can change so many aspects of life. And, having a staff of caring and very competent professionals to help has given me the chance to continue to live a productive life, be active with my child, and pursue my dreams! Thank you so much! You have truly changed my life. "

"In Aug.05 our world came crashing down. My husband, Randy, at the age of 52 had a stroke, and almost died. It was terrifying. We just wanted to finally thank all the doctors, ER staff, rehab. unit, and nurses at Bloomington Hospital. You are truly a bunch of angels. Everyone, for almost a month...was wonderful to us. The tender loving care and expertise was above and beyond the call of duty. It was a very stressful, exhausting and scary time, and we really appreciate all that you did for us. I have to say, even the cafeteria staff was so nice to me, I'd go down, looking all haggered, and they even seemed truly concerned, (I cannot remember her name now, but in particular, was one lady with kind of long blonde hair, was there almost every day, that was just so very nice to me) & even that, at that point, I really appreciated. I would recommend Bloomington Hospital, at Bloomington to anyone of my friends. God Bless, Karen & Randy Emmons"

"My husband's appendix ruptured on 12/23/07. Our first stop was the ED, where nurses Angela and Ron and Dr. Repetto gave my husband compassionate, skilled, and speedy assessment and care. Next, my husband was given excellent reassurance and care by nurses Leanne, Ed, and Mary in Pre-op, Surgery, and Recovery. My husband then had emergency surgery performed by Dr. Fadi Haddad, who was extraordinarily kind and informative both before and after the surgery. Then my husband spent eleven days recovering on Unit 4E, where the nurses and techs were very patient, skilled, and kind. My husband's recovery was a bit difficult, which made him upset from time to time, but everyone on 4E took the time to explain and to reassure. Though we were not thrilled to spend Christmas, New Year's, and our anniversary at Bloomington Hospital, we are very grateful for the true compassion and obvious expertise we encountered during that time at every turn. Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of you."

"I had a procedure done in outpatient surgery on 11/9/07 in the afternoon. On this day I was very pleased with the greetings I received from the nursing staff. Scott Swaby, which I already knew from a past career, greeted me in a very professional and informative manner, and I am not just saying this because he was at one time a good friend of mine. All the other nurses were so kind to me also, I really dont remember any of their names, they waited on me hand and foot. I have got to say this experience was one of the very best that I have ever had at Bloomington Hospital and although I was very stressed and worried about my surgery they made me feel very comfortable and confident that I would be taken care of and it was greatly appreciated. "I was seen in the ER Saturday night/Sunday morning. I have a needle phobia and although I am able to stay fairly clear headed, that idea of an IV and having blood drawn is very hard to handle. I know my fear is irrational but none-the-less it is there and I just do the best I can, which is not always that great. My nurse was very understanding. She did not make me feel silly when I teared up and kindly reminded me to breath. She gave me a second when I needed it, making the process probably go much faster than normal as I was able to remain (in my opinion!) more calm. Her bedside mannor was excellent and she took time to educate me on what was going on so that I could remain calm. I cannot express how much I appreciated her kindness this past weekend."

"I am truly amazed at the terrific care Bloomington Hospital has provided to my mother. Every department that my family and I dealt with from the financial office all the way up to the doctors was outstanding. My mother underwent emergency brain surgery in December 2006. The night of the surgery I was a complete mess. The compassion that the nurses and her emergency room doctor showed was wonderful. They sincerely cared and it meant so much. Her surgeon Dr. Poor really helped my family and I understood the procedures that were going take place. Dr. Poor is an outstanding physician; who deserves acknowledgment for the treatment he gives his patients daily. In addition, every doctor that my family and I came in contact with informed us in detail what types of treatments and procedures were taking place on my mother. It was very important to me for them to take the time to explain why, and they also made sure that all of us understood."

"I am really progressing well with my rehabilitation following a total knee replacement. I attribute much of that success to the well trained eye and encouragement of the PT who provided my care while on the ortho unit. I would think I was doing something correctly and she could see subtle differences in what I was doing and what would be the best and most efficient use of my energy doing the exeercises. Let me tell you that as much as it hurts I want to get every last bit of benefit from the effort possible. I am convinced that my level of progress is directly attributable to her care and treatment."

"My daughter, Stephanie Daniels, was a patient at Bloomington Hospital where she gave birth on October 9th. On the evening of October 8th, Bethany was her obstetric nurse. She was efficient, knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly; Always asking before she left the room if there was anything she could get us or do for us. Our family appreciates the care she gave us. She is a good nurse with a great disposition. Thank you Bethany."

"I have been recieving PT services while on the ARU. I have been provided attention, encouragement, guidance, support, genuine care and compassion. These are the characteristics that Steve radiates as he provides service to his patients/clients. It is obvious that the entire staff of this rehabilitation unit have been radiated by him to provide the same. Yet another wonderful component to the Bloomington Hospital operation. I'm leaving tomorrow and I am ready because of everyone's efforts doing more than just their job; what is evident throughout your facility is that your people are caring for other people. What a wonderful world!"

She was given the best of care and her sense of dignity was maintained and respected. Our mother was 89 years old and went to heaven. Special thanks to nurses Pam and Jill, and to Dr. Kawanishi. "I would like to extend my utmost thanks to Dr. Steiner, Dr. Mast, the ER Doc, ER dept, Ortho/Neuro nurses and nurse techs and cast room (I think his name is Curtis) for the WONDERFUL care of my son during his basketball accident which broke his tibia & fibia. Dr. Mast met us at the emergency room and immediately took care of his extreme pain and helped ease our families mind as to the prognosis. Dr. Steiner & Dr. Mast performed the surgery to place the rod into the broken tibia after what I heard was a "tough day at the office". The surgery was completed late evening but even due to the late hr they never seemed to show exhaustion. Even though I am a nurse myself, I appreciated all the explanations & education from Dr. Mast & Steiner, nursing staff & nurse techs on Ortho/Neuro. ALL the staff involved in his care didn't take for granted I was in Healthcare also. They treated myself and my family with care and compassion along with knowledge to ease our concerns. Thank you everyone!!"

"I was recently hospitalized for 5 days due to a wound infection after a surgery. I wanted to extend my heartfelt thanks to the awesome nurses and nurse techs on 3 North & the PICC line nurses, Dr. Erella and Dr. Tom Hrismalos. I cannot begin to remember all the names of those in and out of my room, if I listed all their names I would be extremely upset if I had forgotten one of you. Thank you to all of you who made my stay better than expected. Being a nurse myself, I know the tasks required by the staff during a shift. Not one time did any of you treat me like I was a nurse but treated me like I was a patient. I was educated and informed as to my progress, procedures, medications, etc. as things progressed. Thank you for assuming I "just knew" to making sure I was informed. The professionalism you displayed confirms why I support Bloomington Hospital. Dr. Erella and Dr. Hrismalos also treated me as a patient with the kindness and comfort I needed. Kudos to all of you!!!!"

"I was admitted for a very serious dog-bite wound on my face. I was a little irritated at the overall speed in the E.R., and the handling by administrators - but I suppose this is more of a commentary on the overall health-care system in the U.S., than anything specific about Bloomington Hospital. Dr. Ray did a FANTASTIC job on the wound, and I appreciated his honesty and willingness to discuss the injury & treatment with me in an intelligent and professional manner. The wound was potentially permanently disfiguring - but I had no complications in the recovery, and barely have a scar. (I wish I had taken a picture so that people would understand how bad it really was!) I expect that in a few weeks there will be no evidence of the ER visit at all! "

I want to thank Kathy (nightshift nurse on ccu) and Lucinda & Drake on 4E (nightshift) and Lisa (dayshift). The care that these nurses gave my mom was awesome and I appreciate ALL that they have done and continue to do for others. I myself am a nurse and the other day at Bell Trace, I had a lady who broke her ankle and sprained her other. Her son was telling me how she was on 4E and had an awesome nightshift nurse named Lucnda and a nurse tech Merriem (sp?). I said oh my gosh I know who you are talking about and yes they are awesome. We had a few other nurse techs but I am not able to remember all of their names. "My friend just finished 1yr of treatment for breast cancer. She's been given the OK to go back to her life as before. Through the entire process you've been wonderful. All of you, each Doctor, the young man who wheeled her by a high window just to show her a terrific view, the nurse who made sure we were taken care of while waiting during surgery, she wouldn't leave us for more than 20 minutes without checking in. The women at the Olcott center, the night nurses who held her hand when she was sick, the day nurses who came in smiling everyday. The way they spoke to her,to us. Professional, caring, informative, attentive, compassionate, no request was to much, apple juice, warm blankets, more pillows, cots, tea, ice, etc. Everyone told her she had to go to Indy for the best care. Everyone was wrong. I'm so glad we didn't. You couldn't have been better and are all amazing. We'll never forget all that you did. Thank you from my friend, her family and me. I don't remember the woman's name, but she was in Labor and Delivery at the time I gave birth to my son at 5pm in May, 2006. She had short blond hair and was so sweet! She really treated me great when I was in so much pain from the contractions and had the epidural, and she just helped me through it! I couldn't have gotten better care! In fact, everyone in Labor & Delivery - nurses and doctors, and even postpartum were good! But this one woman was exceptional! I wish I had gotten her name and details back then! Not only were we naturally worried parents with a child who was being hospitalized for the first time, but we were also out-of-town guests to Bloomington, which adds another level of discomfort simply by being in an unfamiliar place. The Pediatric nursing staff at Bloomington Hospital made us feel right at home, and provided such a high standard of care to our child and to us that we haven't stopped raving about you! Each nurse we worked with was kind, helpful, professional, efficient, and thorough. Every question or request was answered or met within a minute or two, and we really felt that each member of the nursing staff put our daughter's care as their top priority. Due to my relocation, I could not continue to take part of the IHAP program. Before I left, I received a comprehensive evaluation of my situation by the clinical staff and Dr. McKinley gave me a written compact and complete report, which I carry with me. It helps me in convey my medical history to any new physician, I see. I hope this program continues and expanded so that more people could take advantage.
