Letter to the Community
Investing in our community is what being a non-profit health care provider is all about. In 2006, with its dedicated volunteer Board of Directors charting the course, Bloomington Hospital continued to honor its 100 year community commitment.
We exist to serve. We exist to meet the health care needs of our region. It is a simple way of looking at who we are; and why thousands of your friends and neighbors dedicate their working lives to Bloomington Hospital and its mission of community health care.
To meet those needs in 2006, the Bloomington Hospital Foundation was responsible for helping to secure more than $800,000 in national grants to accelerate the adoption of electronic health records in our 10-county service area – keeping even the most rural areas current with important technology. The launch of a secure digital, filmless connection for the sharing and archiving of diagnostic results, and the installation of computer-monitored “smart” IV pumps are more ways Bloomington Hospital technology upgrades changed your health care this year.
Other highlights of 2006 include winning the VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence for AMI (heart attack) and Anthem’s 2006 Meritorious award for the state of Indiana. These awards show that we invest the time and clinical expertise needed to ensure your health care is delivered at the highest levels of accuracy and excellence.
In 2006, more than 350,000 people had a Bloomington Hospital health care experience – whether through an inpatient admission at one of our two facilities, Emergency Department visit, surgical procedure, Promptcare visit or diagnostic procedure. Your health is a responsibility we do not take lightly. We look forward to serving all of you in 2007 and beyond as your health care provider of choice.
