Multiple pay programs and incentives are in effect to attract and retain quality staff. Some pay programs apply to nearly all non-exempt employees, while others are limited to employees in certain hard-to-fill positions.
The following special pay programs are in place for specific hard-to-fill non-exempt (hourly) positions that require the employee to sign a work agreement for a defined time period.
- Platinum Plan
Upon agreeing to work as a Platinum employee, an increased rate of pay is given for all hours worked in exchange for reduced levels of benefits.
- Weekend Option Worker (WOW)
Upon agreeing to work as a WOW employee, a 50% differential will be applied to all hours worked from 3:00pm on Friday through 7:00am on Monday.
- Extra Hours Incentive (EHI)
Upon agreeing to work additional hours beyond a regular commitment, a flat hourly rate will be applied to any EHI designated hours worked. An EHI agreement will be in effect for 4, 6, or 12 weeks to address a short-term critical staffing shortage.
Differentials are either a percentage or flat-dollar amount applied to productive work hours for non-exempt (hourly) employees..
- Shift Differential
- A 10% evening shift differential is given for all hours worked between 3:00 pm-11:00 pm. Three consecutive hours must be worked during evening shift to qualify.
- A 12% night shift differential is given for all hours worked between 11:00 pm-7:00 am. Only one hour must be worked during night shift to qualify.
- Weekend Differential
The amount of hourly weekend differential is determined by the base rate of the position (Minimum rate of the pay grade for the position/job code held by the hourly employee), rather than an employee’s actual pay rate.
- Base rate $0.00-$9.99 = $1.00 differential
- Base rate $10.00-$14.99 = $2.00 differential
- Base rate $15.00-$19.99 = $3.00 differential
- Base rate $20.00 – higher = $4.00 differential
Weekend differential is applied to all hours worked between 11:00 pm Friday through 10:59 pm Sunday.
- Relief Charge RN Differential
A $1.25 differential will be given to an RN functioning as a Relief Charge Nurse. The RN is required to document this differential.
- Float Differential
RN & LPN employees who have a primary position working in the Nurse Float Pool will receive a float shift differential.
- Clinical Ladder Differential
The clinical ladder program has been established in specific departments to encourage and recognize clinical expertise. Upon achieving clinical ladder status, a non-exempt employee will receive a differential amount (usually $.50, $.75, $1.00, or $2.00) to all productive hours worked for the following year.
- On-Call Pay
A flat $2.00 amount will be paid for all hours while an employee is on-call. If called-in to work, the employee continues to receive the $2.00 on-call pay.
- Called-in Pay
When called-in while on-call, the employee will receive the on-call pay plus 1.5 times their regular pay rate. A minimum of two hours will be paid to the employee when reporting to the worksite while on-call.
- Holiday Pay
Upon approval of the Senior Leadership Group, holiday pay may be granted to employees working during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The bonus will be paid for hours worked between 11:00 pm on Thanksgiving Eve through 10:59 pm on Thanksgiving Day and between 3:00 pm on Christmas Eve through 10:59 pm on Christmas Day. Three consecutive hours must be worked during the holiday hours to qualify. The amount of the holiday pay will be 1.6 times the employee’s regular pay rate.
- Holiday On-Call Pay
A flat $4.00 amount will be paid for all hours while an employee is on-call during official Hospital holidays. The bonus will be paid for hours worked between 11:00 pm on the holiday eve through 10:59 pm on the holiday with the exception of the Christmas holiday, with eligible hours of 3:00 pm on Christmas Eve through 10:59 pm on Christmas Day. If called-in to work, the employee continues to receive the $4.00 holiday on-call pay.
