Coverage for either of the two dental plans offered begins after 60 days of employment. Coverage is available to Hospital employees and their eligible dependents. Selection of a plan must be made during the annual open enrollment period or within 30 days of the employee’s hire date or qualifying event.. Employees may choose to enroll in dental offerings whether or not they are participating in the health plan.
The SIHO dental plan does not require use of a participating provider network; however, dental services are subject to balance billing. Balanced billing is the difference between the Provider’s retail charge and the reasonable and customary (R&C) rates SIHO pays for the services provided.
The second dental option, HRI dental, is a preferred provider plan. This means that participants must use the services of an in-network dentist in order to receive any dental benefits. However, the plan does not allow balance billing.
