Education Support

Tuition Reimbursement
Bloomington Hospital will reimburse eligible employees for tuition expenses (not including fees, books or supplies) paid to accredited schools, colleges and universities. All courses and programs must be accredited by one of the six regional accrediting agencies, as recognized by the Department of Education: New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA), Middle States Association of Schools and Colleges (MSA), Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS), Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges (NWCCU)

Eligible Programs: Critical Shortage and Growth Areas. 

Maximum Reimbursement: Varies based upon level of study.
 
Critical Shortage or Growth Areas include: 

Undergraduate:  ASN, BSN, Histology Tech, Radiology Tech, Ultrasound Tech, Radiation Therapist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, Surgical Technologist, Paramedic, EMT, Physical Therapy Assistant, and Respiratory Therapist.  * RHIT or RHIA degrees may be approved by Leadership members for HIMS employees in Management positions.

Graduate: MSN (for the areas of Clinical Nurse Specialist, Administration, and Education only), Pharmacist, Physical Therapist, Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, MBA, MHA, and MPH.

Other: Courses which fulfill a degree or certificate in an area designated by hospital leadership to be required to support our strategic direction.

Scholarship Awards only for BH employees
Each year the Bloomington Hospital Foundations supports employees through multiple awards to recognize excellence in health care.  Employees may nominate one another for these awards that are underwritten by various community members and endowments. Winners of the awards receive dollars to use in educational activities.
